Wedding clients, Helen & Si, share their experience of choosing a Wedding Photographer
“How could we afford Kelly Hearn?” is the question that we asked ourselves when we were first shown her album. We were visiting Upwaltham Barns for a show-around of what was to be our chosen venue. In the beautiful Jasmine Cottage in pride of place on the coffee table was Kelly’s album. As we looked through, virtually every page started with a “wow”, “gosh look at this one” or “that is stunning” from one or both of us.
We have Nicola at Upwaltham Barns to thank for introducing us to Kelly. I remember so clearly her saying to us, “When you go into the cottage to look around, do take a look at Kelly’s album; it is such a shame when couples have a lovely wedding and don’t spend money on getting good photographs”. We totally agreed.
Through the album, Kelly’s photographs showed that she could capture the venue beautifully in all seasons with her knowledge of lighting specifically. The natural poses that she had couples, their families and friends take were so original and, most importantly, showcased personalities in the moment. Beautiful photographs capturing special moments from getting ready and that special time a bride has with her parents and bridesmaids, to the seriousness of the vows, through to the fun speeches and party time. We knew we just had to see if she was available and if we could afford this award-winning photographer.
As an event planner I knew the importance of contracting your chosen suppliers as soon as you can. We already had the beautiful Upwaltham Barns and therefore the totally tasteful Nibbles 2 Nosh secured. The next thing was to book the photographer and the florist. I am so glad we booked these in 17 months beforehand because it meant we got to work with the ones we wanted to all along.
