Becca and Jack’s Southdowns Manor Summer Wedding
There was a buzz for Becca and Jack as they made the most of the sunny spells and showery moments cast upon their dream wedding venue, Southdowns Manor, nestled in the heart of West Sussex’s South Downs National Park.
This delightful couple shone with happiness throughout the day and certainly made the most of the changing conditions as they fully embraced every opportunity we had to get outside and photograph them in the manor’s glorious grounds.
As the day came to a close, we took this incredible opportunity to capture just the two of them, under the fairy tale sparkling lights and the stormy summer night sky.
The venue’s charming interior provided us with plenty more impressive locations in which to photograph the couple and their bridal party.
The Bridesmaids had travelled far and wide to support Becca on her big day and looked absolutely stunning in their dresses from Cameo Brides in Portsmouth!
As they stood with their elegant dusty pink dresses skimming the bold, monochrome Victorian flooring they made a beautiful frame in which to showcase the glowing bride’s look created by makeup artist Lucy Marie.
Becca’s niece did a brilliant job of helping to do up the delicate buttons on her flowing gown with graceful train from Romsey Bridal Boutique - just one of the many duties that her Aunt and Uncle had lovingly given to her for the day.
There was another mini helper on hand, with their nephew also playing a special role on the day. This handsome little dude was formally appointed ‘Ring Security’, he looked the part and took the role to heart - he may be small, but he and his Dad made sure the rings made it safely to the ceremony with style.
Groom Jack, and his two best men styled the morning sun out in classic navy and co-ordinated pink ties and pocket squares.
The trio looked chic and sleek whilst sharing a few laughs as we photographed them in their lush green surroundings - this theme continued later in the day when the two best men performed their side splitting speech together!
You only need to look at this group shot to see how even when the sun disappeared and the rains came, Becca and Jack’s guest weren’t going to let the weather dampen their day. Each time you look closely at this picture, we think you’ll find a different expression to make you smile!
It was well worth the wait for the sunshine to return when capturing the newlyweds in front of the manor’s stately architecture at sunset as they embraced on the lawns. The streaming light coming through the trees behind them highlighted Becca’s delicate veil as it floated in the wind bringing a dreamy glow to this delightful image.
This season has blessed us with a plethora of long, delicate and detailed veils which can help to create a really dramatic and natural feel to the photos as they gently blow and lead your eye up to the couple. However, as we found out, even the most securely fastened of them can come loose in stronger winds, turning a romantic moment into a fit of laughter.
We carried on shooting to capture the natural comedy that Becca and Jack shared as her beloved was cocooned in the dreamy chiffon. We are so glad we did because they chose this unique image for their album - a joyous moment for them to remember and laugh about forever.
As is the nature of weddings, the emotions on this day were as strong and changeable as the weather. Along with the fun and laughter came a poignant heartfelt moment captured as the ceremony began.
Just look at the father of the bride beaming with pride as he walks his daughter down the aisle, the bride as she wells up at the sight of the groom, and the groom as he becomes a little overwhelmed at the sight of his beautiful wife to be - not to mention the tears in the eyes of the groom’s parents as they share the love in their son’s reaction.
Real love will always find a way.
It was so wonderful to see wedding guests back on the dance floor, and when the time came, Becca, Jack and their guests really went all out to their favourite disco anthems mixed by Limelight Events DJ. Here’s some ‘Dad Dancing’ that is certainly giving the bride a run for her money!
Becca and Jack, it was a delight to be part of your big day. You did an amazing job of dodging the showers and you know what they say about a wet knot never coming undone!
