How fantastic professional makeup and photography can work together to make you look flawless for your wedding day pictures
Over the many years that I have been photographing brides, a common and natural worry that I hear is, 'I really hope I look good in my wedding photographs?!'
Knowing that your wedding pictures will always be looked back at for years to come, provides a big pressure and every bride hopes that this will be the one day in their lives that they will look and feel beautiful! The dress, the shoes, the hair, getting them right are definitely the first steps to feeling pretty amazing, and if necessary, can be easily changed, adjusted and tailored to suit. But what about the thing that's a little harder to tweak, assuming we do not have the budget and/or inclination for major surgical cosmetic alterations?! You've guessed it. As we are stuck with the one we've been dealt, we kind of need to know how to make the best of our face right?!
As a wedding photographer there are many tricks of the trade that can really capture a bride's best features in the most flattering ways. Russell and Catherine's Southend Barns February Wedding
The very end of February is that wonderful time of year when the hood of the lengthy winter hibernation period seems to lift and we all peek out (blinking and baffled) and suddenly realise that it's nearly MARCH. Russell and Catherine's wedding on the 26th of February this year was clear, crisp and sunny, suggesting that the ever elusive spring was just around the corner. Ever so subtle touches punctuated their Southend Barns wedding which seemed to effortlessly tie winter and spring together. Clever use of colour and texture coupled with the energy of the very young children present seemed to add a family feeling bursting with new life and positivity.
The colour scheme that Catherine and Russell went for was deepest purple combined with the most vibrant of lime green. It's amazing how well the two colours complement each other; that splash of green reminding us of the promise of springtime just around the corner. I love how well the bridal bouquet sits snugly on the rustic fur that they had placed on the seats in the Dairy Barn for the ceremony:

Alan and Carol's October Wedding at Old Thorns Manor House
Carol has known me since I was born; she and her family lived opposite my family home, and she went to school with my older sister. I met Alan many years ago when they got together and they have remained close friends of the family. It was a real privilege for me to be asked to take their wedding photographs when they decided to tie the knot in October last year after many years as a couple and two children together. It is always special to photograph friends and family members on their big days, not only as I get to be surrounded by the banter of people I already know very well, but also for the opportunity to capture a memory for them which will last forever.
There was a theme throughout the day of stars and moons, reflecting the couple's interest in astronomy and tying in colour-wise to Carol's Scottish heritage. Sumptuous midnight blues and glistening silvers were mixed with thistles, the national flower of Scotland. Carol's gorgeous bouquet contained all of these alongside cream roses, and she spent time with a jewellery designer coming up with this wonderful shimmering star tiara.
