Seeing The Gold Through A Wedding Window

November 23, 2016

Ailis & Chris' Wedding At The Elvetham, Hampshire

Sometimes photography is like looking through a window into someone else's world and each picture offers you a little piece of golden information about the person you are photographing. As my window cleaner, Chris must have had plenty of opportunities to have a nose through my windows at home, and finally it was my chance to have a nosey into his world, on probably the most important day ever! (Obviously both being complete professionals at what we do, I say this in jest, ahum!)

Seriously though, I was truly very honoured to be asked to photograph Chris as he married his stunning Irish beauty Ailis, and with great expectation I prepared myself for some comedy moments and larks in-between the seriousness and solemness of vows and oaths. (It was probably a good job I had anticipated the former)! But although I joke, this day amongst laughs had some truly spectacular moments which were really wonderful to be a part of.

Borrowing moments from a naturally beautiful wedding day

Kirsty & Gary's Upwaltham Barns Autumn Wedding

Gary and Kirsty’s autumnal October wedding took place in the delightful village church of Boxgrove Priory in West Sussex. It was followed by a warm and rustic reception at the outstanding Upwalthaltham Barns, the perfect venue for providing a cosy and glowing atmosphere.

I had already met the couple as they came to my studio for a family portrait shoot when their son Morgan was still a tiny baby. He was such an angel and those huge eyes just captivated me!

The backdrops to love

Georgia & Ross's wedding at Southend Barns, West Sussex

At the height of summer Georgia and Ross managed to steal 1st August to get married, a prime date for any English country wedding. From my perspective the day was literally perfect from beginning to end and such a delight to shoot. Apart from the warm and bright weather, what stood out above everything was the closeness, friendship and fun that I witnessed between the friends and family that surrounded this obviously well-loved couple. It was also the variety of locations and scenes on the day that made my job such a pleasure to shoot. Having an array of different backdrops is a photographer’s dream and we had the best of West Sussex venues that day.

My day began in the beautifully historic market town of Arundel, I first visited Ross and the groomsmen getting ready. Meanwhile Georgia was having hair and make-up done at her parent’s home in the small pretty town of Birdham near Chichester.
