Lucy & Sam’s Autumn Southend Barns Wedding
Remember, Remember a Wedding to Remember! Lucy and Sam tied the knot on a perfectly autumnal Bonfire Night sparking some truly magical inspiration to theme their special day at the stunning Southend Barns.
The weather was wet but nothing could dampen this lovely couple’s heartwarming day as they rolled with nature, embracing every moment come rain or shine. Together we enjoyed mixing their photography up by taking advantage of the breaks in the weather but also harnessing the elements that leant rich earthy tones to the venue’s grounds.
We made use of the dreamy white umbrella to frame Lucy and Sam arm in arm engulfed in lush seasonal greens and rusty hues as they glide down the glassy path on cloud nine, their reflections reaching out ahead of them guiding their way - something they loved when viewing their images.
INSIDE AND OUT
Southend Barns is a fantastic all year round venue so it was a great choice for Lucy and Sam who enjoyed making the most of both the outdoor and indoor spaces.
The iconic three peaks not only provided a snug haven for the newlyweds and their guests to cosy in, but also served as a photographic reminder of their dream venue in which we captured a family portrait of Lucy and Sam with their adorable son and cute little dog.
Their choice of 1960’s VW Sundial Split-screen camper van portrayed the chilled out vibe of the day and worked brilliantly with the entrance to the barns with their complementary textures and warm tones - even Pudsey the dog’s ears tied in with the colours palette! We were also safe in the knowledge that if the clouds were to break, they could all hop in the camper van for some kitsch shelter.

The dreamy interior of the Dairy Barn Ceremony Room made for an equally picturesque location to capture the romance of their special day - the perfect place for some creative group shots as the rain set in.
We used the light and airy space with its contemporary pews and design features to portray a mix of different looks and varied the group poses to keep their photography dynamic, creating versatility in the wedding album.
The soft drapes and the light coloured wall was the perfect backdrop for the delicate pastel tones of the bride and bridesmaids outfits as they sat beautifully together showcasing the delicate fabrics and gorgeous bouquets.

We sharpened things up for the boys in a bolder pose with a triangular structure and backlighting to lead your eye to the main man creating a sense of abstract symmetry with an edgy look.

We captured Lucy and Sam alone together right on the spot where they said their vows. This portrait has a warm, stylish feel to it using another contemporary composition that accentuates Sam’s bold suit to then direct your eye to Lucy as she styles out the soft fairytale look complete with sparkling tiara whilst the soft drapes in the mirror echo the soft drop of her gown.

GOLDEN GLOW
From one idyllic room to another, the Threshing Barn was equally full of charm and that ‘cosy indoors on a wet autumnal day’ feel from the delicate warm glow of the rustic interior and the rose gold tones and blush pinks that Lucy and Sam elegantly wove throughout the room in their details.
We backlit Lucy and Sam highlighting them from the background and enhancing the loving radiance emanating from them as they embraced, surrounded by their dream vision. The flickering candlelight flames gave a nod to the annual rituals of fire and fireworks on their chosen wedding date.

WINTER WARMER
As the night drew in and the evening began to sizzle we were keen to capture the essence of Bonfire Night through all of their traditional celebratory touches whilst injecting a little bit of magic in their images.
Armed with an umbrella (which only turned inside out a couple of times…) we put our brave coats on and kept that warm tone and vibe despite being in al fresco climes incorporating the glow from the exterior lights and the fire pit.
This time we backlit Lucy and Sam to cast their soft shadows above them onto the white umbrella housing a warm connection between them proving you can capture a truly magical image no matter what the weather, and showing what you can do when you work creatively with mother nature.
Guests were treated with all those things that epitomise that unmistakable ‘winter warmer’ feeling including a buffet of hot chocolate with a choice of all the trimmings and s’mores to toast around the fire together keeping them warm and giving them an energy boost to hit the dance floor.
Whilst away from the party Lucy and Sam took a moment to share a dance in the rain under the moonlight in true fairytale fashion - the perfect end to a delightful day.
Lucy and Sam, we loved the way that you embraced your day, it certainly went off with a bang! It may have been a bit chilly but the love that you shared with everyone, and all the hot chocolate too, filled your day with such warmth. May the rain forever spark memories of your love and your delightful wedding day together.
