Melanie & Ryan’s Autumn Southend Barns Wedding
Melanie and Ryan’s wedding at the idyllic Southend Barns set in Sussex’s sweeping countryside took inspiration from the worlds of 1980’S fantasy and films making for a truly epic day of celebration edited with lots of love and fun throughout.
Autumn being a sentimental season for this couple was the perfect time of the year for them to tie the knot allowing them to work in rays of earthy tones through their floristry and personal touches further filling their day with a warm glow.
With the gift of this spectacular autumn sunset we made sure to spend time photographing the couple to create movie-like images of the two of them to encapsulate and embody their theme, resulting in a classically cinematic fantasy look.
THE FLIGHT OF FANTASY
We incorporated a playful and whimsical sense of ‘expect the unexpected’ in how and where we posed the couple throughout the day to bring their vision to life creating their album story to truly reflect the feel of the day.
Melanie’s sweet and angelic pose has a fairytale, ‘you shall go to the ball’ quality right before she is about to marry her Prince as she readies herself upon the cow skin rug with the delicate skirts of her stunning gown gathered around her adding a further dreamlike softness to the image.
Whilst Ryan’s wedding morning portrait ties in brilliantly with Melanie’s with the cow wallpaper bringing an animated magical feel of its own juxtaposed by a more formal and pensive pose as he prepares himself to meet his bride.
Both images lend themselves to our creative imaginations of setting a scene that goes on to tell the story of the Wedding Day.

We further found inspiration in the grounds of the stunning Southend Barns to add to their wedding photography dream and made a playful backdrop of this field of llamas. With the sun high above adding a sparkle and casting abstract shadows drawing your eye to the stars of the show at the heart of the image.
The venue’s secluded water feature garden with its beautifully manicured foliage offered an enchanting fantasy feel, fitting of the day’s enchanting themes.
We posed Melanie, Ryan and their bridal party to match the serenity and equilibrium of the landscaping further adding our own symmetry in the water’s reflection whilst showcasing their chosen colour scheme and style through their outfits and flowers.
FUN DMC
This upbeat couple wanted the day to be full of fun and excitement for all of their loved ones and the entertainment for the evening truly topped the bill.
The Newlyweds DJ Battle from Brian Mole Wedding DJ certainly got the party started with an eclectic mix of music showcasing Melanie and Ryan’s personalities, lifting spirits and compelling guests to vote with their feet adding a lighthearted competitiveness to the party and also a lot of laughs.
A great source of amusement and very fitting of Melanie and Ryan’s chipper outlooks, they both had a whale of a time behind the decks.
Keeping the evening flowing Melanie and Ryan treated their guests to a fine selection of deliciously artistic cocktails from in-house caterers, Roots - an irresistibly lively addition to the party.
NEVER ENDING STORY
Melanie and Ryan teleported their guests onto the big screen in the Threshing Barn through the careful naming of tables and positioning of hand painted movie characters from their favourite 1980’s films.
Even the style of the beautifully bright flowers were a nod to the 1990’s version of The Secret Garden and worked perfectly with the season. An extra special touch of movie magic sparkled from the drapes of twinkling fairy lights crowning the wedding breakfast creating a charming atmosphere in which to dine and be merry.

Adding to the celebratory atmosphere and filling the room with the fantasy of the movies was music from the soundtracks of the films featured on the tables plus a few other of Melanie and Ryan’ favourites to boot.
As it was important for us to bring Melanie and Ryan’s fantasy theme to life in their photography we created images that were not only beautiful but also thought provoking, much like a movie. You can see the connection between this pair, but who is this mystery man behind the capelet?
